A Child Development Associate (CDA) is an individual who has successfully completed a CDA assessment and has been awarded the CDA Credential. S/he is able to meet the specific needs of children and works with parents and other adults to nurture children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a child development framework.
A CDA would also demonstrate competence in her/his ability to meet the CDA Competency Goals through her/his work in a center-based, home visitor or family child care program. To date, there are more than 150,000 CDAs across the country in all 50 states, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. territories of Guam and the Virgin Islands.
The Credential is awarded for three child care settings: 1) Center-based, for which Candidates receive endorsements to work with infants and toddlers or preschool children; 2) Family Child Care; and 3) Home Visitor.
If you are interested in working in a childcare center, fulfilling your 120-clock hours to meet the CDA Credential Assessment (Exam) requirements from The Council of Professional Recognition, would like to have a deeper appreciation and understanding of children and how they learn, develop, and interact with their world, then this course is for you.
If you are interested in becoming a nanny or are changing your career to work with children and have little or no experience with children, we recommend taking this home-study course. Salew People Solutions is a registered Professional Development Provider with the Board of Education in the State of New Jersey. We are based in New Jersey; however our CDA Home-Study Program is for anyone living within the U.S. or its Territories. No matter what state you live in, the approved course work is accepted by The Council for Professional Recognition, the Credentialing Body for the CDA.

A CDA Credential is valid for three years from the date of award, after which it may be renewed for five year periods. At the request of the CDA, a renewal packet can be purchased for $13.00 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling from The Council for Professional Recognition.
All CDA Renewal Candidates must meet the following criteria as outlined by The Council for Professional Recognition:
Document proof of a current Red Cross or other agency First Aid Certificate.
Document proof of at least 4.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)*, or a three-credit-hour course in early childhood education/child development, principles of adult learning, mental health counseling, etc. These hours must be in addition to the original 120 clock hours or three formal or informal educational experiences required when the Candidate obtained the CDA Credential. Bilingual CDAs must meet this requirement with coursework incorporating bilingual issues.
Document proof of recent (within past year) work experience with young children or families of young children (a minimum of 80 hours).
Select an Early Childhood Education Professional to complete a Letter of Recommendation Form regarding competence with young children.
Document proof (within current year) of membership in a national or local early childhood professional organization. A list of suggested national organizations will be included in the renewal application packet.*Our Home-Study Courses meet the renewal course requirements.

We're pleased to announce that we have a payment plan that will have you on the road to finally obtaining your National CDA Credential. The Ladder Payment Plan is exclusively for prospective students of our 120 clock-hours CDA Home-Study Program. The enrollment fee for this plan is $75 and payment is divided into 4 payments.
The enrollment and other fees are included in the first payment along with S&H and other processing fees. Tuition fees are due every three months. Upon receipt of the first payment. You will be enrolled in the 120 clock-hours CDA Home-Study Program and will be shipped the first level's materials to get started with your program. Students can then wait for the three month due date to pay the next installment of tuition or if s/he wishes to make payment early to receive the next set of lessons and materials the CDA Candidate will be allowed to do so. The great thing about The Ladder Payment Plan is that you will enjoy the same conveniences such as The Online Student Lounge, My CDA Forum, and the comfort of having a complete year to complete your coursework.
While we have been invited to participate in public scholarship programs such as SUNY Training Strategies Group EIP, and other public scholarship programs, we do not accept public scholarships at this time. Why is that? Many of our clientel and students are from private schools and/or organizations. Because of the lack of funding for private organizations, we have purposely tailored a very reasonable program without lacking any of the quality of higher priced programs. We do have students who have private organizations or sponsors pay for their course.

Each Complete Home-Study Course requires a signed contract or electronic signature. Please note that by ordering online, your invoice is accepted as an electronic signature. We reserve the right to cancel or discontinue any or all courses at Salew People Solutions' discretion. All shipments are sent with confirmation receipts. Therefore, we will honor refunds that are requested 14 days from date of purchase. Orders that have been shipped will be refunded the purchase price less the shipping & handling charges and restocking fee, which totals $50.00. Refunds are made only to those who return all course materials in its original condition, complete with original packaging and contents. A written letter from the customer requesting a refund along with reason(s) for return must be received from the consumer before we can honor any refund policy.
